RECYCLING GUIDELINES
Recycling of glass/cans/plastics properly can save the Township, and
ultimately, the taxpayer, valuable dollars. Contaminating your
glass/cans/plastics recycling container with non-recyclable items
limits the Township's ability to look for disposal companies with
the lowest cost per ton.
(A) CANS, GLASS AND PLASTICS
-
Used metal cans; used glass, such as glass bottles, jars and
containers (except blue glass and flat commonly known as window
glass); and used plastic bottles and containers, such as soap,
soda, milk, pet, soup, shall be separated from other solid waste,
cleaned and drained free of all food and liquid or other substances
and placed into a reusable hard plastic or metal recycling
receptacle or container, not less in size than five gallons or more
than 32 gallons. Metal cans and used glass and plastics shall not
be placed in plastic bags for collection. The lids to these
containers can go in the trash.
-
The hard plastic or metal recycling receptacle for glass, plastics,
and metal cans shall be placed between the curb and sidewalk in
front of the residence in a reasonably secure manner for collection
by the Township or its authorized agent not sooner than 4PM the day
before and by 6AM the day of your scheduled pick up.
-
All disposable containers made and fabricated primarily of plastic,
and having imprinted on them a recycling code / icon of 1 or 2.
(B) PAPERS / CARDBOARD
-
Used newspaper shall be separated from other solid waste to be
collected by the Township or its authorized agents and placed into
neatly-packaged and securely tied bundles not larger than one (1)
by two (2) feet and weight not exceeding fifty (50) pounds, or
neatly and snugly packed into strong or doubled paper bags. In no
event shall used newspaper be placed into plastic bags for
collection.
-
Used loose paper and cardboard shall be separated from other solid
waste, flattened and placed into securely-tied bundles or snugly
packed into paper bags as in the case of used newspapers, but in no
event shall plastic or waxed paper be included nor shall plastic
bags be utilized to place such paper for collection.
-
The bundles or packed paper bags of used newspaper or loose paper
and cardboard shall be placed between the front curb and sidewalk
of the residence in a secure manner for collection by the township
or its authorized agent not sooner than 4PM the day before and by
6AM the day of your scheduled pick up.
